FLIP THE SWITCH UPDATE and GOOD NEWS

Here goes. .

I spoke to Rick Brofrey today.

It seems that he currently has 4 engineers that work most of the events on campus.

We discussed the possibility of him hiring other engineers. He said that he would be willing to solicit more funding to get more people working for him. That would provide anyone interested an opportunity to run sound for on campus events. I will keep you updated about the progress on this.

For the Flip The Switch event itself, he already has staff engineers that will be running sound, so anyone that wants to work the event will be acting as auxiliary sound reinforcement. There is plenty to learn for anyone interested in showing up. I think that it will be mutually beneficial for those interested in running sound for on campus events to go, help, and check out the equipment.

Also. .

We are now officially a club! Yeah!

I stopped by student government today and filled out the remaining paperwork required. That means we now can solicit funding for the trip to New York for the AES convention, and also book events on campus. In the conversation with Rick, he stated that there weren't too many events for engineers to run sound for. If any of you have ideas about events that you would like to head up, feel free to post, discuss, and book them! There are three separate sound systems that we now have access to for free. Keep in mind, the more events there are on campus, the more opportunities there are for us to perform and work.

For the AES convention, we will be advocating for funding for the trip as early as this Wednesday. I'll let those of you who have expressed interest in attending when and where this will take place.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?
Feel free to post.

Best,

Mitchell

  1. Good developments, I'm glad we're making progress towards becoming involved in campus sound events. I'm planning on attending "flip the switch" to scout out the situation, and see what running sound there would entail.
