AES E-Library

I followed up on the AES E-Library post by sending an email requesting it be added to the UNCA library's online resources. In the email I described the great benefits of having access to these publications for the AET oral presentations and just general knowledge of the history of the discipline and current innovations. They agreed, and have purchased an institutional subscription which we can all log into here: http://0-www.aes.org.wncln.wncln.org/e-lib/inst/

NEXT WEDNESDAY

Yo,

We will be advocating for funding the AES Convention trip next Wednesday evening at 9pm in HU 223/22.

Let's do it.

AES Convention Update

Hey all,

Dan noticed that they have extended the deadline for early registration until October 7. Woot!

Here is the link.

I am still waiting to hear back from student government. I'll keep you posted.

Any questions,

Feel free to call or email.

AES Library Memberships

Chris,

An excellent idea. If you have the time, check with the library and see if you can solicit this membership through them. If not, we might have to wait until next semester when they allocate general funding for clubs.

Let us know.

AES Papers

While we're soliciting funds for the club, maybe we can get an institutional AES E-Library subscription? http://www.aes.org/e-lib/subscribe/ It'd be nice to have access to these papers. Especially for doing the AET class presentations.

Booking Event

Hey Guys,

I would like to see if we get put an event together that showcases the club. I figure that most of us are in bands, or perform solo, and we can have everyone perform and whoever is not performing do sound. And then maybe at the end we could all jam or something. I think that this could help the club break out, so to speak, so people know about its presence on campus.

Let me know if you guys would be interested.

FLIP THE SWITCH UPDATE and GOOD NEWS

Here goes. .

I spoke to Rick Brofrey today.

It seems that he currently has 4 engineers that work most of the events on campus.

We discussed the possibility of him hiring other engineers. He said that he would be willing to solicit more funding to get more people working for him. That would provide anyone interested an opportunity to run sound for on campus events. I will keep you updated about the progress on this.

For the Flip The Switch event itself, he already has staff engineers that will be running sound, so anyone that wants to work the event will be acting as auxiliary sound reinforcement. There is plenty to learn for anyone interested in showing up. I think that it will be mutually beneficial for those interested in running sound for on campus events to go, help, and check out the equipment.

Also. .

We are now officially a club! Yeah!

I stopped by student government today and filled out the remaining paperwork required. That means we now can solicit funding for the trip to New York for the AES convention, and also book events on campus. In the conversation with Rick, he stated that there weren't too many events for engineers to run sound for. If any of you have ideas about events that you would like to head up, feel free to post, discuss, and book them! There are three separate sound systems that we now have access to for free. Keep in mind, the more events there are on campus, the more opportunities there are for us to perform and work.

For the AES convention, we will be advocating for funding for the trip as early as this Wednesday. I'll let those of you who have expressed interest in attending when and where this will take place.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?
Feel free to post.

Best,

Mitchell
